From our clients, Judy and Len Garrison, homeowner
To say that Saving Time Design rescued our new home build would be an understatement. We always knew they would takeover for the design process once the contractors finished the footprint, but when we had trouble with our builder, they stepped in and made sure it was done right. They checked and double-checked every ceiling beam, electrical outlet, stained board, plumbing fixture, floor and tile placement, everything. They called our builder out when he tried to deviate from design plan and take short cuts. That was their first saving grace. Putting the entire design process in their hands made nerves I didn’t know I had stand on end. But, we trusted them, and that, above all, is the key to what they do. Sherry knew what we liked, what we didn’t, what toilet we wanted, colors we loved and ones we hated; she understood our desire for a classic, dark and moody, elegant home with every piece of furniture being functional in our modest 1,200 square feet. Everything had to serve a purpose and tell a story. Everything in our home had to mean something; from the dining room table my mother made when I was 10 years old to my mother’s sewing machine that is now my guest bath vanity; our love of books and a library (Joel, your design is the centerpiece of the house, wow) to showcase our travels, plus every framed piece of artwork on the walls had to be our photography or have a connection to our lives. Len is Italian, and we wanted the Italian farmhouse feel. The blues, greens, yellows - oh my gosh, we’re home. When we walked away two months before our reveal date, we both were nervous and scared. However, on September 14, 2023, when we drove up our mountain road and walked the last few yards, we cried. We celebrated, and it was more than we could have dreamed possible. It’s been a year since we’ve been home, and everyday we wake up and wonder how lucky we are to live in this beautiful home. We could not have dreamed this nor done this. Period. It was Joel and Sherry who took what was given to them, breathed life into it, and made it a home for two.
Garrison Design Project
In the mountains of North Georgia, we helped our clients, Len & Judy Garrison bring their dream of an Italian farmhouse to life. This project was a journey of crafting a home that embodied both the charm of rural Italy and the personal passions of the owners. From selecting custom wall colors to infusing character into every corner, no detail was overlooked. The design processs included a trip to Italy where we hand picked their pot filler tile, a beautiful blue antique tile, adding authenticity to their space. We thoughtfully incorporated their love for travel, photography, and writing throughout the home, creating a space that truly reflected their personalities. Working closely with their builder, we guided the design from the ground up, carefully selecting colors, lighting, plumbing fixtures and everything in between. The crowing touch was a unique custom tile floor featuring a welcoming “Ciao Bella” message. While the creation, detailing, shopping and installation took months of dedicated work and lots of trips back and forth to the North Georgia mountains, the results is a home where a lifetime of memories will be made, perfectly balancing Italian inspiration with personal touches.
